This is our 3rd year using Square 1 Art as a fundraiser to bolster funds for the Art program.
A huge thank you to Monica and Ty who take the purchased tiles and construct the wooden frames to house them. Reclaimed wood and a beautiful layout. I couldn't do this without your help!
These tiles were created last year (2013) and were mounted over the Parent center in the Library. They were unveiled on Enrichment night.
Square 1 Art offers high quality products at reasonable prices. We have been impressed by their amazingly responsive customer service team that quickly addresses any issues that arise. They have our business for the foreseeable future!
BVA held its 3rd Annual Enrichment Showcase in April. Music, Spanish and Drama performances were held in the MUR while student Art was on display in Community Room 2, Library, and Third Grade hallway.
Fantastic job by all!
Many thanks to my mom Barb and parent volunteers Eldon, Diane, Monica and Adriana for all your long hours and hard work.

Gung Hay Fat Choy!
In honor of the Year of the Horse, students of all grade levels were asked to decorate one of three horse templates printed on cardstock. These were then cut out, assembled, and then mounted all together in a group display. All 300 of them...
Warm summer greetings to the Bay View Academy community!
Bay View Academy (BVA) is a public, independent K-8 charter school authorized by the Monterey County Office of Education in 2011. Founded on the core principles of community, innovation, and passion for learning, BVA offers a broad academic program using thematic-based instruction. Enrichment offerings include Art, Music, Performing Arts, and Spanish. Like traditional schools, BVA is free and open to all students. Donations are happily accepted from families and the greater community.
The mission of BVA is to provide rich and interactive learning opportunities that extend beyond state standards, spark imaginations and produce creative, independent thinkers. Student-centered interdisciplinary curriculum is developed in partnership with local educational, cultural, and scientific research organizations to enhance learning of languages, history, the arts and sciences. Innovative and talented teachers engage students in learning while preparing them to become creative and compassionate members of our community.
We see a future in which Bay View Academy is a treasured focal point of our neighborhood and community. Children learn to be inquisitive, independent and responsible. Teachers receive the support they need for educating and nurturing the whole child to their full potential. Strong parent and community partnerships enrich the learning experience and instill a sense of civic pride and awareness. Collaboration flourishes, creating a virtuous cycle that strengthens communities and prepares children to tackle challenges and opportunities for the 21st century.
This blog will serve as an additional space to inform you of what your students are learning and creating in their Art classes. Come on in and check us out!
